Planned Giving

As you make your long range financial plans you may want to consider a gift to Columbus Catholic Schools that will only be received after you and your loved ones no longer need the assets. There are a number of ways to accomplish this:

  • Giving through your will can be a way to leave a legacy at Columbus Catholic Schools. After providing for your loved ones, you may decide to make a charitable gift of a certain amount, a percentage of your estate, or all or part of what remains after family or friends have been remembered. A gift of this type can be arranged with a simple amendment to your existing will. Gifts can be made to Columbus Catholic Schools, Columbus Catholic Schools Endowment or Columbus Educational Foundation.
  • Giving through living trusts is another idea to consider. Many people now use trusts created during their lifetime to provide for the management and future distribution of their assets. This also reduces the cost of probate. An amendment to an existing living trust is all that is required to make a gift in this way.
  • Giving life insurance proceeds is another way to make a meaningful future gift. You can name Columbus Catholic Schools as your beneficiary to receive all or a portion of policy proceeds at death. You may receive income and estate tax benefits through a gift of this type.

After speaking with your financial advisors, you may find that one or more of these options may help you meet your long-term charitable goals while first providing for the needs of your loved ones.
